Anthony Davis offers up strange excuse about wearing a 'That's All Folks' shirt to Pelicans game
New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis caused quite a ruckus Tuesday night when he appeared at possibly his last game in New Orleans wearing a “That’s All Folks” T-shirt. The move seemed to be intentional. It was Davis telling fans and ownership he was ready to move on.
But that’s not the case, according to Davis. The 26-year-old Davis said there was no added significance to his wardrobe choice for the final game of the season. He claims he didn’t even choose the shirt.
Davis on why he wore the "That's All Folks" t-shirt last night: "I didn't choose it. I actually didn't choose it. It was hanging for me already when I put my clothes on."

Davis claims the shirt was already hanging for him when he put his clothes on. When asked who hung the shirt, Davis says he isn’t sure.
That’s a ... questionable ... excuse considering Davis’ situation. The star center has been rumored to be on the trade block all season. When a trade never materialized at the deadline, the Pelicans sat Davis to avoid an injury. Davis is expected to be traded during the offseason.
Even in a scenario where Davis is being 100 percent truthful, it’s still not a good look for him. If Davis is telling the truth, that means he never looked at his shirt. Or he did, and never considered how it could be viewed as a shot at the Pelicans. Are fans supposed to believe Davis didn’t pay extra attention to those details knowing it would likely be his final game with the team?
Ultimately, Davis may not have to speak on the issue again for some time. With the season over, he can head home and wait until a trade comes. He might be asked about the shirt when he’s introduced with his new team, but Davis can easily deflect the question.
It might be years before Davis is willing to divulge the true story behind his T-shirt on the last day of the 2018-2019 season.
