Anthony Davis may have suffered a serious groin injury
Anthony Davis is no stranger to nicks, bruises and concussions. The New Orleans Pelicans All-Star has missed at least 14 games in all, but one of his first five campaigns and it appears that inauspicious streak will continue this season. In New Orleans’ loss to Utah on Friday night, Davis suffered what appeared to be a left groin injury.
Davis will have an MRI this weekend and will likely miss a significant amount of time. Based solely on Davis’ reaction, this was not a minor strain. As Davis attempted to box out Derrick Favors underneath the Pelicans basket at the start of the fourth quarter, he collapsed into a heap, grabbed his left leg and was in immense pain. The severity of Davis’ injury is unknown at this time, but evidently Davis was unable support his own weight and provided with a wheelchair.

The Pelicans will be waiting with bated breath for an update on Davis’ health. The Pelicans are currently straddling a .500 record and clinging to the Western Conference’s seventh seed by one game over the Jazz.
