Alex Cobb placed on injured list with fractured nail; Chase DeLauter promoted to Triple-A
Just as Alex Cobb appeared to be stabilizing the Guardians rotation, the team now will be without him for a bit.
Cobb has been placed on the injured list with a fractured nail on his pitching hand, according to the team. In two starts since being acquired from the San Francisco Giants, he had allowed five earned runs and struck out four in 10⅓ innings.
Anthony Gose has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Cobb's spot on the roster, at least in the short run. Sam Hentges (shoulder inflammation) has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Chase DeLauter promoted to Triple-A Columbus
Chase DeLauter's climb up the Guardians minor league ladder has now reached Columbus.
DeLauter, who is set to be promoted to Triple-A Tuesday, has hit a combined .252 with a .782 OPS in the minor leagues this season, most of it with the RubberDucks.
A 2022 first-round pick who had a red-hot spring that opened some eyes, DeLauter is the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system, behind only recent No. 1 overall selection Travis Bazzana.
