ALDS Game 5: Start of Guardians-Tigers game changed to 1:08 p.m. Saturday
The Guardians and Detroit Tigers will now play the winner-take-all Game 5 of the American League Division Series as a day game Saturday afternoon.
Due to incoming rain, Major League Baseball has moved Game 5 of the ALDS to 1:08 p.m. at Progressive Field. The game was originally scheduled for 8:08 p.m. after the New York Yankees clinched a spot in the American League Championship Series by beating the Kansas City Royals.
The series between the Guardians and Tigers is tied 2-2 after Cleveland won 5-4 in Game 4 Thursday night in Detroit thanks to David Fry's heroics. The winner of Saturday's Game 5 will advance to the ALCS to face the Yankees.
Cleveland is expecting to see some weather that could only get worse as the night leads into Sunday morning. Game 1 of the ALCS is scheduled for Monday night in New York, so a rain delay for Game 5 of the ALDS would lead the Guardians or Tigers without much time to travel or prepare for the next series.
