After recovering from COVID-19, FSU coach Bobby Bowden endorses Donald Trump
Bobby Bowden is standing by President Donald Trump.
The former Florida State coach endorsed Trump’s re-election campaign Wednesday night. Bowden was recently released from the hospital after he contracted COVID-19 and he said in his letter that he wanted to stay alive so that he could vote for Trump.
“I want to thank all the many, many people who were thinking of and praying for me over the last few weeks,” Bowden said. “I just went through a battle with COVID-19 and God just wasn’t ready to take me home yet to be with him.
“Most of you know I’m 91 years old and the fight was tough. But thanks to the help of Dr. Michael Forsthoefel and the support of [wife] Ann and all my children I beat it.
“I’ve had the chance to get a lot of wins in my life but I really wanted to win this one because I wanted to be around to vote for President Trump.”
Bowden endorsed Trump ahead of his 2016 presidential campaign. Bowden was Florida State’s coach from 1976-2009 and won 315 games with the Seminoles. FSU went to a bowl game in each of Bowden’s final 28 seasons with the team.
Trump capitalized on Bowden’s statement with a tweet on Thursday morning.
The GREAT Bobby Bowden, one of the best coaches EVER in College Football, on his full recovery from Covid-19 “....America is the greatest country this side of heaven. I’ve had a chance to get a lot of wins in my life, but I really wanted to win this one because I wanted....

Bowden said in his endorsement of Trump that he had been treated with multiple drugs including Remdesivir during his hospital stay for the coronavirus. Trump got a five-day dosage of that drug while he was in the hospital for COVID-19 earlier this month.
Over 200,000 people in the United States have died from the coronavirus and over 8 million people have contracted the virus in the U.S.
Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are scheduled to debate Thursday night for the final time ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3. The second debate between the two was canceled because it was supposed to happen days after Trump was released from the hospital.
