Aaron Rodgers sends Jordan Love another text message after his historic comeback: 'Happy for him'
Jordan Love's phone is getting filled with texts from Aaron Rodgers these days.
And all in a good way.
Before the beginning of Love's first training camp as the starting quarterback in July, the New York Jets quarterback wished him well and told him to "have fun" as he took over a job Rodgers held for 15 years.
Then after the Packers' Week 1 win over the Bears, Love again had a text waiting for him from his predecessor, a message that noted how excited Rodgers was to see his successor continue ownership over the team's rival.
Now, after the Packers' Week 3 win in which Love led the team to a historic 18-17 comeback win over the New Orleans Saints in his first career start at Lambeau, Rodgers was like a proud older brother.
"Big congrats to J," Rodgers said Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" from a rehab bed as he recovers from a torn Achilles injury he suffered in his first game with the Jets earlier this month. "I sent him a message after the game. Happy for him, that’s a cool moment. He’ll never forget that moment."

Up until the fourth quarter nothing was going right for Love and the offense. There were penalties. There was Love's first interception. There were two turnover on downs, one being a botched trick play on the first drive of the game and another on fourth down in which a player didn't run the right route at the start of the fourth quarter.
But then everything turned. Love made plays with his feet, calmly connected with his receivers, put moves on defenders and improvised when things didn't go his way. The end result was the largest fourth-quarter comeback in franchise history.
"It’s a special feeling to play at Lambeau and to have a game like that where it all wasn’t going your way and then you just kind of figured it out in the fourth quarter," said Rodgers, who led many memorable comebacks of his own.
Rodgers said Love's 1-yard read-option TD run on a fourth down in which he made Damario Davis miss was "pretty special." That touchdown and subsequent 2-point conversion made it a one-score game at 17-11 with plenty of time in the game.
After the defense made another stop, Love led a nine-play, 80-yard drive in 2:27 that culminated with a beautifully thrown back-shoulder throw to Romeo Doubs for the 8-yard touchdown.
Love then got to come out one more time to take the knees after Saints rookie kicker Blake Grupe missed a 47-yard field goal with 1:10 left in the game.
"It's in that moment you’ve won, it’s his first start at Lambeau. There’s nothing like that," Rodgers said. "When you trot out that last drive when the game’s in hand and you’re taking knees there’s not many better feelings in sports."
Aaron Rodgers says he plans to keep playing after recovering from Achilles injury
As far as Rodgers, he wants to experience that feeling again.
He was hurt on the Jets' fourth offensive play of the season and is done for the season after having surgery to repair his torn Achilles.
Being away from the game has given Rodgers his answer on whether he needs to play again.
As Rodgers, who turns 40 in December, watched games on TV the last couple weeks he thought to himself, "'I don’t know if I’m going to sit my (a--) on the couch and watch a whole game.'"
"That was every confirmation I needed that I’m not done," said Rodgers, who has contemplated retirement the last several offseasons. "I want to keep playing because I’m not just ready to find something else to do on my Sundays. I’m still invested, I still love it."
