Aaron Rodgers says he sent Jordan Love a message after Packers quarterback's 'awesome' Thanksgiving Day game
It's a pretty safe bet that Brett Favre wasn't sending Aaron Rodgers congratulatory messages during the first season that he took over for him as starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
It's no secret the two weren't close during their few years in Green Bay together and Favre was out for revenge when Packers management turned to Rodgers after he retired a first time in 2008.
But in his post-Packers career, Rodgers appears to be fostering a different relationship with his successor Jordan Love, even as he continues playing elsewhere, ironically in the same city and team that Favre did after he left Green Bay.
"I do, I do I still have a lot of great friends, great friends there," Rodgers said Tuesday during his weekly appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" when asked if he still talks to people in Green Bay.
One of those people is Love, who appears to be coming into his own highlighted by his performance in the Packers' 29-22 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.
"I sent J. a message after the Thanksgiving game," said Rodgers, who continues his recovery from a torn Achilles injury he suffered in the Jets' first game of the season. "I thought he played awesome. That was a big win."

Rodgers has said several times this season that he has reached out to Love to wish him well or congratulate him on his successes.
He's also preached patience when it comes to the 25-year-old. Love also reached out to Rodgers when the four-time MVP went down with the injury in Week 1.
Aaron Rodgers praises Jordan Love's efficiency vs. the Lions
A week after throwing for his first 300-yard game of his career, Love delivered a masterpiece for a record national audience to witness.
He was sharp with his reads and commanded the offense as he continues his upward trajectory in his first season as the Packers' starting quarterback.
He completed 22 of 32 passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and most importantly zero interceptions for a second straight week. His 125.5 quarterback rating was his highest of the season.
"I thought Jordan played one of his better games on Thanksgiving and really threw it well and was efficient," Rodgers said.
Aaron Rodgers on Jordan Love's first TD vs. Lions: 'That was an awesome touchdown'
Rodgers also commented on Love's first touchdown in which he zipped a 10-yard pass to Jayden Reed for the opening touchdown.
The play could have turned out poorly with Christian Watson running the wrong route, but Love somehow snuck in the pass between defenders for the early score. Rodgers surmised that "there's no way" that was how coach Matt LaFleur drew it up.

“We actually messed that play up," Love confirmed in his post-game press conference. "Somehow it just worked out. It worked out. I’m not even sure how the ball got in there, but it was great by J-Reed just being able to concentrate when there was like three dudes right in that window. So just having him be able to concentrate, catch it, and then finish in the end zone was huge.”
Rodgers agreed.
"There was an awesome touchdown he threw," Rodgers said. "That's one of those fun ones, and everybody's like look at this amazing throw. Yeah, somebody ran the wrong route. It looks good in the stat sheet."
Jordan Love's progression stands out to Aaron Rodgers in Packers' win over Lions
Love's stats have certainly improved over the last few weeks and his poise in leading the Packers back into playoff contention is notable as he looks to establish himself as a franchise quarterback.
"Jordan's a great kid and people are getting to see his ability and progression," Rodgers said.
