76ers C Embiid (orbital fracture) ruled out of Game 2
Philadelphia 76ers All-Star center Joel Embiid will miss Monday's Game 2 of the playoff series against the Miami Heat, the team announced Sunday.
Embiid has cleared the NBA's concussion protocol, according to the club. But he is still dealing with the effects of a left orbital bone fracture that he suffered on March 28.
Embiid will shoot for a Game 3 return. That contest is Thursday at Miami.
Monday's game will be the 10th Embiid has missed due to the injury. Philadelphia has won the previous nine and 17 straight overall, counting Saturday's 130-103 trouncing of the Heat in the Eastern Conference first-round opener.
Embiid averaged 22.9 points and 11 rebounds during the regular season.
The 76ers also announced that guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will miss Game 2 due to right knee patellar tendinitis. Luwawu-Cabarrot hasn't played since March 11.
