6 beautiful tributes to the late Fernando Valenzuela at the Dodgers-Yankees World Series Game 1
At Game 1 of the 2024 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees on Friday, the tributes to the late Fernando Valenzuela were abundant and beautiful.
The Dodgers pitching icon and later a radio broadcaster who inspired "Fernandomania" died at the age of 63, the Dodgers announced this week. And it's no surprise the team and its fans have found many ways to honor the 1981 Cy Young Award winner, NL Rookie of the Year Award winner and World Series champion from Mexico.
In addition to the Dodgers players wearing a No. 34 patch on their uniforms, tributes to Valenzuela included memorials outside Dodgers Stadium, a moment of silence before the game and, in lieu of a ceremonial first pitch, the ball was placed near No. 34 on the mound.
Here's a look at some of the many beautiful tribute to Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela.
