The New York Jets (2-5) took their 2024 season of ups, downs, and changes to "Sunday Night Football" against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2). The Jets departed with a 37-15 loss.

The Jets did not put together a full effort and paid the price. The second half, in particular, was poor.

With that, here are five takeaways from the Jets' loss to the Steelers in Week 7:

Davante Adams debut

In the highly anticipated debut for Davante Adams after landing in New York via trade... it wasn't anything to spectacular just yet. Adams had just three catches for 30 yards on four targets.

Untimely INTs

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers had some pretty untimely interceptions against the Steelers. Not that they all aren't bad, but these hurt.

Just before halftime, Rodgers tossed one when he was forced a pass down the middle of the field. Right after, Pittsburgh managed a touchdown with 27 seconds remaining. It wasn't a backbreaker, but it hurt.

Then in the second half wide receiver Garrett Wilson dropped an easy catch and it was picked off on the deflection. After a long return, the Steelers pounded in that one for a touchdown as well.

A few tough pills to swallow. Momentum was killed.

Inside guys get involved

On a positive side for the offense, the Jets had plenty of involvement from their tight ends and running backs. Specifically in the passing attack too, despite the hype around Adams' arrival.

Tight end Tyler Conklin caught his first touchdown pass since October 2022. Conklin finished with four catches but only for seven yards. In addition, it was running back Breece Hall who led New York in receiving yards. Hall recorded 103 yards in the air on six grabs, including a 57-yard catch.

Bend but don't break

While the Jets defense did allow 30 points, they still played some decent "bend but don't break" defense. Early on, New York was playing well on defense by keeping touchdowns off the scoreboard despite a couple of injuries in their secondary including cornerback DJ Reed.

The offense really needed to help out a bit more and they did not.

Is this it?

The Jets already might be sunk. All the recent changes and upgrades made by the team in recent weeks look a bit silly now. At 2-5, there are few blemishes this team can have moving forward for the rest of the entire season. That is not the position anyone expected them to be in... but Gang Green is.

And what excuses do they make now?
