The Steelers have experienced their second trade heartbreak, after missing out on WR Brandon Aiyuk, and now WR Davante Adams. Although Adams is officially a New York Jet, there are five implications of this trade that affect the Pittsburgh Steelers moving forward.

1. Steelers get the chance to beat Adams' team twice:

Pittsburgh dominated Adams' former team in Week 6 before his trade and now have a chance to hilariously beat his new team, the Jets, in Week 7.

2. Calvin Austin, Van Jefferson, and Roman Wilson battle for WR2 spot:

Until the Steelers add WR help, expect an underwhelming battle between Austin, Jefferson, and Wilson for the WR2 role.

3. Pittsburgh ignores the passing attack, stays committed to the run game:

With injuries on the o-line and limited WR options outside of George Pickens, expect heavy doses of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.

4. Pittsburgh could make a last minute push for veteran WR at the trade deadline:

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (24) and Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10) get tangled up during their game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Penn., Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023.

The trade deadline isn't until November 5th, and Pittsburgh may wait until the last minute to bring in a veteran receiver, such as Titans’ wideout DeAndre Hopkins or Jets' Mike Williams.

5. Week 7 Jets will now be Steelers' toughest 2024 opponent yet:

Though the 2-4 Jets weren't that intimidating, the duo of Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams now makes them a much bigger threat to the 4-2 Steelers.
