5 big takeaways from the Steelers blowout win over the Raiders
The Pittsburgh Steelers came out on Sunday and snapped a two-game losing streak with a dominant 32-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. If not for a late garbage touchdown by the Raiders, this would have been an even uglier score that more represented how the game went. Here are our big takeaways from the win.
Antonio Pierce has to eat his words
Ahead of Sunday's blowout, Raiders HC Antonio Pierce commented that he didn't consider the Steelers one of the more physical opponents the Raiders played. Then the Steelers went out and punched them in the mouth for 60 minutes.
Russell Wilson can't win with this offense
If there is one thing keeping Justin Fields the starter over Russell Wilson, it's his legs. It's hard to imagine Wilson being able to have success in this offense until the offensive line plays better because right now Fields' scrambling is what is keeping this offense moving.
All the receivers on snap management?
No Steelers receiver played more than 67 percent of the offensive snap on Sunday and that was George Pickens. Pittsburgh was shuffling receivers in and out on Sunday which cannot be good for any sort of rhythm or consistency on offense.
Steelers caught some breaks with the penalties
Typically Steelers fans are complaining about the officials but on Sunday, Pittsburgh was on the right side of two very questionable calls. One was an ineligible man call on Las Vegas that negated a touchdown and another was a very soft roughing the passer that negated a Justin Fields interception.
Biggest players make the biggest plays
Pittsburgh's win came down to a handful of big plays made by the team's best players. Whether it was Najee Harris, Justin Fields or T.J. Watt, the splash plays were what helped balance out the mundane struggles this team continues to have.
