49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk reports to training camp as Steelers suffer wideout shortage
More than even any player currently on the team, Brandon Aiyuk has been the talk of the Pittsburgh Steelers offseason.
Buzz continued to build when Aiyuk requested a trade after failed contract talks with the San Fransisco 49ers. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted today that Aiyuk is reporting to 49ers training camp without a new deal in place.
Nobody outside the Steelers organization knows whether Pittsburgh made a move for the disgruntled Niners star. Speculation has led many to believe they simply mishandled the acquisition of a top-tier receiver, be it Aiyuk, D.K. Metcalf, Courtland Sutton, et al.
We still hold out hope that the Steelers are not satisfied with their wide receiver corps, which includes George Pickens, a rookie and a handful of WR4s.
