The San Francisco 49ers may have an intriguing advantage in their Week 2 matchup vs. the Minnesota Vikings.

This will be the second time in as many seasons that the 49ers and Vikings have squared off. Minnesota got the better of San Francisco last year 22-17 in a strange game at US Bank Stadium. The game was defined by a pair of late Brock Purdy turnovers that helped stifle the 49ers' comeback attempt.

Purdy's struggles in that game may actually bode well for San Francisco. Early in his career, Purdy has generally had more success every time he faces a team for the second time. It's a relatively small sample, and it includes regular season and playoff games, but it's clear Purdy is more effective against a team the second time he sees them.
