4-star QB commit Walker White reveals moment he decided Auburn football was 'where I wanted to play'
AUBURN — Auburn football picked up a commitment from four-star quarterback Walker White on Friday.
White, who plays for Little Rock Christian Academy in Arkansas, is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 142 player in the class of 2024 and the 13th-best quarterback. He's also tabbed as the top recruit in the state of Arkansas.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound White chose Auburn over finalists Clemson and Baylor.
"For me, I had an amazing visit at Auburn," White said during his commitment on the 247Sports YouTube channel. "The staff and coach (Hugh) Freeze and just everyone was so great to me and my family. The thing that tipped it over for me, the little cherry on top for me, was me stepping on that field at night.
"My heart sank and I pictured myself playing on that field and I told myself, I said 'Yeah, this is where I want to play.' At the end of the day, it just felt right. I'm at peace with it, and all my family has told me that they're going to support me through this, so I'm very happy."

White is the third recruit to commit to Auburn's 2024 recruiting class, joining four-star cornerbacks A'Mon Lane out of Moody High School and Jayden Lewis from Anniston. Lewis announced his commitment Wednesday.
Aside from the three finalists, White also has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
White is the second quarterback Freeze has recruited to the Plains since he was hired in November; three-star recruit Hank Brown out of Lipscomb Academy in Nashville signed to Auburn's 2023 class during the early signing period in December.
"(Auburn's staff has) been resilient in keeping up with me and recruiting me," White said. "They've just showed me 100% that I'm their guy, and that's what I want. I want the offensive coordinator, I want the head coach, I want the quarterbacks coach; I want them to believe that I'm their guy.
"And when they believe in me, it just goes even more upward than that. I start believing in myself even more. I'm really excited about the offense they're putting together with coach (Philip) Montgomery and coach Freeze, both of their minds just put together and coach (Kent) Austin and coach Dom (Studzinkski), all the guys. I truly believe, I have full confidence they will take me to my best."
White also said he's ready to become a recruiter for Auburn, specifically naming 14 players he plans to connect with and convince to join him on the Plains, including five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson and five-star tight end Landen Thomas, who is committed to Georgia.
"For me, as a quarterback, you're only as good as the guys around you," White said. "I'm going to be very active in contacting different athletes."
