Proposed 3-team trade nets the Steelers a desperately needed WR

Hypothetical trade scenarios never really go away, and this time of year — before the start of NFL training camps — they’re rampant.

This scenario involves everybody’s favorite defensive tackle, Cameron Heyward.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report proposes the Steelers indirectly acquire their desperately needed wide receiver No. 2 in return for Heyward.

Broncos get: Rams’ 2025 third-round pick, Steelers’ 2026 third-round pick, WR Tutu Atwell

Steelers get: WR Courtland Sutton, Rams’ 2026 fourth-round pick

Rams get: DT Cameron Heyward

Chances are, very few Steelers fans would be happy if this trade went down in the real world.

Pittsburgh needs a proven pass-catcher behind George Pickens, but not at the cost of Heyward.

Last season, Heyward limped through the 11 games he appeared in after injuring his groin in Week 1. He’s just two seasons removed from consecutive 10-sack seasons and still has enough in the tank to produce at a high level.

Although reuniting him with Russell Wilson seems tempting, Courtland Sutton hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2019. Not to mention, Denver said in April that Sutton was not on the trade block.

The Steelers might have to do something bold to acquire a WR1/2, but what?
