The Seattle Seahawks defense will be shorthanded against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The Seahawks have ruled out some of their top defenders, including Leonard Williams, Boye Mafe, Byron Murphy II, and Uchenna Nwosu. A difficult matchup versus a typically explosive Lions offense awaits.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald must string together a creative defensive game plan. Lions quarterback Jared Goff is capable of taking advantage. We’ve compiled three bold predictions for the defense on Monday.

Seahawks hold Lions under 130 rushing yards

The Lions have a two-headed monster at running back in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. They're averaging a fourth-ranked 163 rushing yards per game as a result. While the Seahawks will miss Williams and Murphy at defensive tackle, the Lions will also be without Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow. Jarran Reed and Johntathan Hankins are quality run defenders for the Seahawks, and nose tackle Quinton Bohanna may receive a practice squad call-up.

Derick Hall records a sack

Derick Hall will arguably be the Seahawks' best pass rusher with both Nwosu and Mafe sidelined on Monday. The sophomore Hall has recorded three sacks in three contests, including a two-sack performance versus the Dolphins. The former Auburn standout will be asked to deliver a step-up-to-the-plate performance.

Julian Love picks off Jared Goff

Goff has thrown four interceptions throughout 2024 thus far, committing at least one turnover in every game this season. Safety Julian Love has one interception and will be roaming the defensive backfield. Love is capable of exposing Goff's recklessness.
