2024 Paris Olympics: A look at each competitor with Oklahoma ties

The 2024 Paris Olympics is set to begin on Wednesday, and numerous athletes with Oklahoma ties will compete.

The OKC Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort will play for Canada. Oklahoma State and OU will also send 11 and five of its athletes, respectively, to compete in various sports.

Here's a complete list of every athlete with Oklahoma ties who'll compete in the Paris Olympics:

2024 Paris Olympics competitors with Oklahoma ties

OKC Thunder

  • Lu Dort, Canada: Dort has spent all five seasons of his NBA career with OKC, where he has grown from an undrafted player in 2019 to a solidified starter. The 6-4 guard averaged 10.9 points and 3.6 rebounds last season on a career-high 39.4% shooting from the floor.

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Canada: Gilgeous-Alexander has spent the last five seasons of his NBA career with OKC, and he's now considered one of the best basketball players in the world. The 6-6 guard finished second in MVP voting last season with averages of 30.1 points, 6.2 assists and 5.5 rebounds.

Oklahoma State

  • Wyndham Clark, United States, men's golf: Clark played for OSU from 2012-15, and he was named a first-team All-American by Golfweek as a redshirt freshman in 2014. Clark is now a professional golfer on the PGA Tour, and he's No. 5 in the world ranking.

  • Viktor Hovland, Norway, men's golf: Hovland played for OSU from 2016-18, and he was named a first-team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a sophomore in 2018. Hovland is now a professional golfer on the PGA Tour and the European Tour, and he's No. 7 in the world ranking.

  • Alex Noren, Sweden, men's golf: Noren played for OSU from 2001-04, and he earned an All-American honorable mention as a junior in 2004. Noren is now a professional golfer on the PGA Tour and the European Tour, and he's No. 51 in the world ranking.

  • Kris Ventura, Norway, men's golf: Ventura played for OSU from 2014-17, and he earned a third-team All-American selection by both Golfweek and the GCAA as a sophomore in 2016. Ventura is now a professional golfer on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he has two wins.

  • Aleksandr Nedovyesov, Kazakhstan, men's tennis (doubles): Nedovyesov played for OSU from 2007-11, and he was named the 2009 Campbell/ITA National Player of the Year as a junior. Nedovyesov is now a professional player who has three career titles in doubles.

  • Jacob Fincham-Dukes, Great Britain, men's track and field (long jump): Fincham-Dukes competed for OSU from 2016-19, and he's the school record holder for outdoor long and indoor long jump. Fincham-Dukes went on to win the gold medal in long jump during the 2023 and 2024 British Athletics Championships.

  • Maja Stark, Sweden, women's golf: Stark played for OSU from 2019-21, and she was named a first-team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as a sophomore in 2021. Stark is now a professional golfer with six Ladies European Tour titles under her belt, and she's No. 23 in the world ranking.

  • Gabija Galvydyte, Lithuania, women's track and field (800 meters): Galvydyte competed for OSU from 2020-24, and she was named an Outdoor First-Team All-American in 2022 and 2023. Galvydyte also won the bronze medal at the 2023 European Games after finishing third in the 1500-meter event.

  • Ieva Zarankaite Gumbs, Lithuania, women's track and field (discus throw): Zarankaite competed for OSU from 2014-15, and she earned 2014 All-Big 12 honors in both the discus and the javelin. Zarankaite became the Lithuanian champion in the discus and the shot put in 2021.

  • Ariadni Adamopoulou, Greece, women's track and field (pole vault): Adamopoulou competed for OSU from 2020-23, and she earned Indoor All-Big 12 selections in 2021 and 2022. Adamopoulou placed first in the 2024 Greek Indoor Championships for the pole vault.

  • Chase Ealey Jackson, United States, women's track and field (shot put): Jackson competed for OSU from 2013-16, and she was a three-time All-American. Jackson won the gold medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in women's shot put, making her the first American woman to win a shot put world title at that stage.

Oklahoma

  • James Fraschilla, United States, 3-on-3 basketball (assistant coach): Fraschilla played for OU from 2011-15 and is now an assistant coach for the Washington Wizard's G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. He was named an assistant coach for the 2024 USA 3X3 men's national team in February.

  • Abraham Ancer, Mexico, men's golf: Ancer played for OU from 2010-13, and he finished second in OU history in career scoring average in relation to par with a 72.42 (plus-0.93). Ancer is now a professional golfer with seven wins, and he's currently on the LIV Golf tour.

  • Emre Dodanli, Turkey, men's gymnastics: Dodanli has been competing with OU since 2022, and he earned 2024 All-American honors on floor exercise and parallel bars. Dodanli won the gold medal in the all-around, floor exercise and high bar at Turkey's national championships in June.

  • Vernon Turner, United States, men's track and field (high jump): Turner competed for OU from 2020-23, and he was named the 2023 Big 12 Performer of the Year as a redshirt senior. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, but raised in Yukon, Turner is the only U.S. Olympian out of 592 athletes to represent Oklahoma.

  • Ralford Mullings, Jamaica, men's track and field (discus): Mullings is an Arkansas transfer who was the 2023 SEC outdoor discus silver medalist. He also earned a 2022 Outdoor first-team All-American selection while at Arizona State.
