Who has the first pick in the NFL draft?
The rival Chicago Bears have the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and popular consensus indicates that the Bears will draft USC quarterback Caleb Williams with that selection. The Bears cleared the runway for that pick when they traded Justin Fields to Pittsburgh in March.
The Bears acquired that pick last year after trading the No. 1 overall selection in 2023 to Carolina (who took Bryce Young). It means the Bears also have their own pick, the No. 9 selection, for 2024.
Here's the rundown of first-round picks:
Chicago Bears (from Carolina)
Washington Commanders
New England Patriots
Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Chargers
New York Giants
Tennessee Titans
Atlanta Falcons
Chicago Bears
New York Jets
Minnesota Vikings
Denver Broncos

Who are the other top players in the NFL draft?
Williams isn't the only top quarterback in the field, with Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, North Carolina's Drake Maye and LSU's Jayden Daniels likely to get taken early. It's possible one of those players falls to the Vikings at No. 11, which would give Green Bay two division rivals with fresh quarterbacks.
Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison also is regarded as one of the best prospects in the draft, as is Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt, LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers and Oregon State offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga.
Who are the possibilities for the Green Bay Packers at No. 25?
Mock drafts have connected a number of names to the Packers, including Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and offensive linemen such as Graham Barton of Duke, Amarius Mims of Georgia, Tyler Guyton of Oklahoma and Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson.

Are any Wisconsin players expected to go early in the draft?
The University of Wisconsin doesn't have any first-round prospects, but Alabama right tackle JC Latham, an Oak Creek native who started his high school career at Catholic Memorial in Waukesha before relocating to the IMG Academy in Florida, should be among those hearing his name in the first round. There's an outside chance Latham is available for the Packers at No. 25.
UW's top prospects in the draft are running back Braelon Allen and offensive lineman Tanor Bortolini, natives of Fond du Lac and Kewaunee, respectively. They both have a chance to hear their name toward the end of Day 2 or early on Day 3.
How much time do teams get between picks in the NFL draft?
In the first round, teams have 10 minutes per pick. It's 7 minutes per pick in the second round and 5 minutes per pick for rounds 3-6. In round 7, it speeds up to 4 minutes between picks.
What happens if a team runs out of time?
The clock starts once a team hands over its card to make a pick. If the clock expires before the next team hands over its card, then the next team in line has a chance to make a selection before the tardy team. The procrastinating team can still make its pick at any time, but teams are able to jump them in line if they're quick enough.
