2024 4-star athlete commits to Florida State following unofficial visit
One day after losing a member of the 2024 recruiting class, Florida State added to its class Thursday when athlete Lawayne McCoy announced his commitment.
McCoy was on campus for an unofficial visit during Thursday's spring practice, the 13th one of the spring. He is listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds and is the No. 172 overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings and the No. 13 athlete.
He announced the decision to media in attendance following his visit.
McCoy also held offers from Miami, Auburn, Penn State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M, among other programs.
He caught 20 passes for 491 yards (24.6 average) and 3 touchdowns during his junior season, also adding nine tackles, five pass breakups and an interception.
Florida State's 2024 class holds nine commitments and was ranked as the No. 6 in the nation ahead of the commitment.
Four-star safety Jordan Pride (Blountstown High) de-commited from FSU on Wednesday.
