11 best food spots in Bugis Junction for a yummilicious meal [Nov 2024 update]
Bugis Junction is one of my favourite haunts. It’s plonked right in the heart of Singapore’s downtown area and enjoys direct connectivity to Bugis MRT.
Back when I was a teenager, I practically lived here, grooving on the DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) machine at the arcade, rocking my oversized shirts and baggy JNCO jeans like it was nobody’s business!
This sprawling mall has close to 200 shops spread across 3 floors and a basement, and no matter the time or day, it always seems to be packed with a mixture of families, tourists, young teenagers out on dates, and working adults fleeting from meeting to meeting.
If you’re shopping your heart out and feeling peckish, this guide is for you. Here are our 11 best food spots in Bugis Junction for a yummilicious meal.
1. Ma Maison (#02-51)
Ma Maison is a Japanese-style Western Restaurant with a charming English cottage theme, which immediately sets the mood for a romantic and chill dining experience. They specialise in their homemade brown sauce which is said to be stewed for 28 days following their traditional recipe.
That special brown sauce is slathered over their range of hamburger steaks, making them extra indulgent and delicious. Choose the Jumbo Hamburger Steak 300G (S$26.80++) or the Hamburger Steak with Cheese 180G (S$23.80++).
One of my favourites on the menu here is the Beef Stroganoff Butter Rice (S$19.80++). Picture fragrant butter rice wrapped in a creamy omelette, then topped with sliced beef and rich brown sauce— perfection served on a plate!
You can also share a few starters such as Baked Escargots with Garlic Butter (S$12.80++), Potato Gratin with Mustard Mayonnaise (S$9.80++), and Camembert Cheese Fritter (S$12.80++).

2. Belle-Ville Pancake Cafe (#01-01B)
Who doesn’t love a dessert break, am I right? Head over to Belle-Ville Pancake Cafe where you can immerse yourself in a pancake wonderland that you never want to get out of. What’s more, since the place is located near the main road, you can people-watch while enjoying your sweet treats.
Enjoy their selections of millefeuille pancakes which are incredibly light and fluffy. To enjoy them with just butter and fresh cream without any distractions, the Millefeulle Pancake (S$8.90 for 4 pieces, S$13.90 for 8 pieces) never fails to satisfy me.
If you’re looking for fancier options, go for the Chocolate Banana Pancake (S$13.20 for 4 pieces, S$18.20 for 8 pieces) or Matcha Red Bean Pancake (S$13.20 for 4 pieces, S$18.20 for 8 pieces).
You can also enjoy their range of tea from the Okinawa Tea Factory. Enjoy a hot Darjeeling Tea (S$5), iced Chai Tea (S$5) or iced Earl Gray Tea (S$5).

3. Fu Lin Original Fried Yong Tofu (#03-30B)
On the 3rd floor of Bugis Junction lies one of my favourite yong tau foo joints ever— Fu Lin Original Fried Yong Tofu. Yes, it’s that Fu Lin Yong Tofu— the same one at 721 East Coast Road which has been serving crispy yong tau foo since 1995.
Unlike most yong tau foo places which blanch your ingredients and serve it dry or with soup, Fu Lin Yong Tofu is most well known for its minced chicken and mushroom gravy, which is doused over deep-fried yong tau foo ingredients for an indulgent and satisfying meal.
As with most yong tau foo shops, prices will go by how many ingredients you’ve picked.
For example, 6 Pieces (Fried + Gravy + Noodles) will set you back S$9. Additional Meat Gravy costs S$2 and if you’re picking more ingredients, note that most items cost an additional S$1, while certain items like Cheese Hotdog and Ngoh Hiang are more expensive and are considered 3 pieces each.
If you’re not up for fried ingredients or its mushroom with meat gravy, Fu Lin Original Fried Yong Tofu also offers 6 Pieces (Soup + Noodles) (S$8) or 6 Pieces (Curry + Noodles) (S$9).

4. Josh’s Grill (#01-69)
Whoever said that Western restaurants had to be expensive hasn’t been to Josh’s Grill. Tucked along the outskirts of Bugis Junction’s 1st floor, you’ll find this casual Western bistro at the traffic light towards Liang Seah Street.
It specialises in flame-grilled Western dishes, with mains starting from S$12.90.
Considering that each main dish comes with your choice of 2 hot or cold sides, its S$12.90 price tag is pretty affordable.
Choose from staples like Char-grill Chicken Chop with Homemade Onion Sauce (S$12.90) or more interesting combinations like Char-grill Chicken Chop with Salted Egg Sauce (S$13.90), and pick from side dishes like Mac & Cheese, Cold Seaweed Pasta and Cheesy Butter Rice.
Alternatively, try its Crispy Battered Fish with Homemade Tartar Sauce (S$14.90), or go all out with its Au Sirloin Steak with Beef Sauce (200g) (S$23.90).

5. Malaysia Boleh! (#03-30)
Taking over what used to be Food Junction on the 3rd floor of Bugis Junction is Malaysia Boleh!, a popular food court offering Malaysian street eats.
This particular location opened in July 2022, and was the homegrown brand’s 4th outlet. Currently, Malaysia Boleh! has a total of 6 locations in Singapore, including The Centrepoint and i12 Katong.
Try the Claypot Chicken Rice (S$6) from Petaling Street Famous Clay Pot Chicken Rice or slurp a bowl of Mixed Beef Noodles (S$7.90) at My Seremban Beef Noodles.
The choices at Malaysia Boleh! are varied enough to give you a real headache during lunch time. Should I order the Curry Chicken Noodle (S$6.50) from Kampung Hainanese Chicken Rice, or a fiery bowl of Chilli Banmian (S$5.50)?
To beat the sweltering heat, indulge in a Ipoh White Coffee Frappe (S$6.50) or Iced Blue Pea Flower Lemonade (S$3.20).

6. Tangled (#B1-K10)
Pasta is one of my go-tos for a quick and fuss-free meal, and while most fast food pasta joints tend to take the express method in its preparation, Tangled doesn’t.
This takeaway kiosk specialises in freshly made pasta and keeps it affordable, with prices starting from as low as S$8.90.
It might be a takeaway kiosk, but that doesn’t mean its offerings aren’t anything less than spectacular.
You can look forward to interesting pasta combinations such as Mango Tango (S$13.90), which is made of squid ink spaghetti aglio e olio with prawns and mango salsa, or Moo Ragu (S$14.90), a classic beef ragu pasta which uses beef that had been slow-cooked for 16 hours.
More impressively, Tangled’s pastas are all freshly made with natural ingredients. For example, Pesto Besto (S$13.90) uses spinach pasta, while Truffle Shuffle Shrooms (S$12.90) features mushroom pasta.

7. LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar (#B1-22)
LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar is tucked away in the basement of Bugis Junction, serving delicious bowls of beef noodle soup that’ll warm you up from the inside out.
More importantly, its dishes are relatively affordable too, with the cheapest dry noodle dish costing S$7.70.
LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar offers 2 types of broth: braised beef broth, which has been prepared for 18 hours, and its pork bone broth, which is rich in collagen and protein.
While most folks go for the Braised Wagyu Beef Noodle (S$19.50), those on a budget won’t be shortchanged with its Braised Marbled Beef Noodle (S$13.50), which uses the same rich beef broth.
As for the pork bone broth, my personal favourite is the Braised Pork Rib with Scallion Noodle (S$14.50) thanks to its comforting broth and tender pork ribs.

8. Hey! Yakiniku (#01-92/96)
The rise of casual yakiniku joints that serve wallet-friendly grill options hasn’t gone unnoticed, and one of the latest brands to enter the ring is Hey! Yakiniku, which is located on the 1st floor of Bugis Junction.
With a slogan that says “No smoke! No GST! No service charge!”, Hey! Yakiniku is one of your best bets if you’re looking to satisfy your yakiniku cravings while on a budget.
It offers 12 yakiniku set menus such as the popular Karubi Set (S$18.90 for 200g) or Hokkaido Shirobuta Set (S$21.90 for 150g). All sets come with rice, soup, kimchi or salad, and spicy bean sprouts to ensure you have a complete meal with your grilled meats.
On Mondays to Fridays from 11am – 5pm, take advantage of their Lunch Specials starting from S$10.90 nett.

9. Shinfuni (#B1-K04)
Shinfuni is a sister brand of Kazo, another Taiwanese bakery that had Singapore in a chokehold several years ago. The main difference between the two is that Shinfuni’s menu focuses more on breads and buns, differentiating it from Kazo.
Some of their more intriguing offerings include the Taro Polo (S$4.90). Unlike other varieties of polo buns that have a cookie-style crust on the top, Shinfuni’s take had a croissant-like interior with flaky layers, and is filled with a light taro-based cream. Another taro centric creation is the Taro Orh Nee Donut (S$2.90), featuring a light, fluffy doughnut filled with same taro filling as the polo bun.

10. Nunsaram (#01-70)
Another dessert spot like #2, Nunsaram not only offers a range of Korean desserts but also has a food menu to satisfy your hunger pangs.
If you like Korean gimbap bursting with sesame oil goodness, they have 7 varieties to choose from like Fried Shrimp Gimbap (S$11.90), Tuna Kimchi Gimbap (S$11.90) and Bulgogi Gimbap (S$11.90).
Fans who love tteokbokki can give the Spicy Cheese Tteokbokki (S$10.90) and Ramen Tteokbokki (S$10.90) a try.
Cool off with their 9 tempting options of binggsu such as Choco Banana (S$14.90 for regular, S$17.90 for large), Strawberry (S$14.90 for regular, S$17.90 for large) and Milo (S$12.90 for regular, S$15.90 for large). Upgrade your bowl of ice with Cheese Cake (+S$4), Red Bean (+S$2) or Almond (+S$2).
For something more satisfying, savour the Ice Cream Waffle (S$8.90), Honey Bread (S$9.90) or Hotteok (S$5.90 for 1 piece).

11. San Ren Xing (#03-30A)
San Ren Xing specialises in Fujian and Sichuan dishes, offering a unique fusion of flavours from two distinct regions. With both cuisines on opposite ends of the flavour spectrum, you can indulge in a culinary journey that embraces both worlds.
Warm up your palate with a plethora of light starters such as Shaoxing Hua Diao Drunken Chicken (S$10.90) or Jellyfish Salad (S$10.90). Be sure to order the signature Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao (S$9.90 for 6 pieces).
When your taste buds have fired up, try the appetite-inducing Sauerkraut Fish (S$36.90) or the fiery Sichuan Style Sliced Fish (S$32.90). If you’re seeking something to share with your friends, get the Handmade Popiah with Shredded Pork (S$18.90 for 10 pieces).
Also highly recommended is the Golden Thread Sweet Yam (S$16.90), featuring mashed yam pieces fried to a crispy perfection and coated with a delightful layer of sticky sugar.
