Overview of Waivers in Fantasy Football

Waivers put temporary freezes on unclaimed players, giving everyone a chance to make a claim on them. When this time period ends, all waiver claims are processed and the manager with the highest waiver priority gets the player. The league's commish can pick which waiver rule and waiver claim priority is used from the "Edit League Settings" page of the "Commissioner" tab.

About Weekly waivers

Weekly waivers place all unclaimed players on waivers at the beginning of each week. There are 3 start times to choose from, but each type has the same end time. Waivers end after 11:59 p.m. PT Tuesday, allowing remaining players to be added by the 1st manager to claim them.

  • Game Time - Tuesday (default rule) - Unclaimed players are placed on waivers as soon as their 1st game of the week begins. If they don't have a game that week, they're placed on waivers at 5:30 p.m. PT Monday.
  • First Game of the Week - Tuesday - All unclaimed players are placed on waivers at the scheduled start time of the 1st game of the week.
  • Sunday - Tuesday - All unclaimed players are placed on waivers at 10:00 a.m. PT Sunday.

About Continuous waivers

  • All unclaimed players are on waivers at all times.
  • When a claim to add a player is made, a timer begins for other managers to make additional claims.
  • The default time period is 2 days, but the commish of a Private League can change this from No Waivers-7 days.

Note - A player can never be added to a team on the same day a waiver claim is made, when using continuous waivers. For example, if a leagues processing day is Monday, players can never be added on Monday. The deadline for adding a player, to have them added to your team on Monday, would be 11:59pm PT on Sunday. All acquisitions made after that would not be able to process until the following Monday.

About turning off the waivers feature

The commish can select "None" for their waiver rule, which will turn off waivers for the league.

  • Unclaimed players are always available to be added by the 1st manager to claim them.
  • To be eligible to play for the current Game Week, the player needs to be added by 11:59 p.m. PT Sunday.

Available waiver claim priorities

About Continual Rolling List waiver priority

  • Managers are ranked from high to low to determine who wins a waiver claim.
  • The initial priority rank is determined by the league's draft:
    • Live and Autopick Drafts - The last draft position gets 1st rank.
    • Offline Drafts - The last to register gets 1st rank.
  • Every time a manager's claim is successful, they drop to the bottom of the priority list.
  • The priority list is never reset.

About Reverse Order of Standings waiver priority

  • Managers are ranked from high to low to determine who wins a waiver claim.
  • The initial priority rank is determined by the league's draft:
    • Live and Autopick Drafts - The last draft position gets 1st rank.
    • Offline Drafts - The last to register gets 1st rank.
  • After each Game Week in the regular season, the waiver priority list is reset:
    • The new rank is determined by the reverse order of the current league standings (the manager with the lowest league standing gets 1st rank).
    • When playoffs begin, the waiver priority list stops resetting.
  • Ranks are not affected by:
    • Successful waiver claims.
    • Stat corrections that affect the league standings after the current week's rank has been determined.

About Weekly Rolling List Based on Standings waiver priority

This priority is the same as the "Reverse Order of Standings" waiver priority, except that when a manager's claim is successful, that manager drops to the bottom of the priority list.

About FAB (Free Agent Budget) waiver priority

Each manager is given a budget to place offers on unclaimed players that are on waivers. The default budget is $100, but the commish of a Private League can adjust the budget as they see fit by clicking Free Agent Budget under the Manage Other Teams tab in their commissioner tools.

  • FAB budget ranges from $1 - $999.
  • Offers can range from $0 to the remainder of your budget.
  • Offers are blind, so other managers can't see what your offer is.
  • The manager with the highest offer signs the player to their roster and has that amount deducted from their FAB budget.
  • Waiver order doesn't change except in the event of a tie. The commish picks 1 of the 3 other waiver priorities to be used in the event of a tie:
    • Continual Rolling List
    • Reverse Order of Standings
    • Weekly Rolling List Based on Standings

Situational waiver tips and options

Place multiple, conditional waiver claims

Since other managers can make waiver claims on players you want, you can increase your chances by making multiple "conditional" claims to add or drop players. The idea is that if 1 claim is voided for any reason, the next claim is processed and you can still have a favorable outcome.

Multiple claims to add 1 player:

  • Waiver Claim 1 - Add Player C, drop Player A
  • Waiver Claim 2 - Add Player D, drop Player A
  • Waiver Claim 3 - Add Player D, drop Player B

If Waiver Claim 1 is successful, Waiver Claim 2 is voided because you no longer own Player A, but you still have a chance to get Player D because of Waiver Claim 3.

Multiple claims to drop 1 player for other players:

  • Waiver Claim 1 - Add Player B, drop Player A
  • Waiver Claim 2 - Add Player C, drop Player A
  • Waiver Claim 3 - Add Player D, drop Player A

This way, even if someone else wins Player B or C, you can still drop Player A for Player D.

Post-draft unclaimed players can go straight to waivers

When the league's draft ends, you can have all unclaimed players be immediately available to add or have them go into waivers. You can only change this setting pre-draft (from the "Edit League Settings" page).
