Stat and scoring FAQ for Fantasy Hockey

If you're wondering how certain scoring works Fantasy Hockey, you can use this guide to clear up your curiosity. First, check out which stats and scoring settings your league uses by clicking Scoring & Settings from the "League" tab.

Shootouts

Stats aren’t recorded for skaters during shootouts, however the goalie on the ice when the winning goal is scored is credited with a win.

Penalty minutes

Penalty minutes are positive statistics for Rotisserie or standard Head-to-Head leagues. The most penalty minutes will win the matchup or earn the most roto points. Private League Commissioners using point-based scoring can adjust penalty minutes to be positive or negative scoring.

Plus / minus (+ / -)

Any player on the ice when their team scores is credited with a +1 and -1 if their team allows a goal, regardless of their involvement (power play goals don't factor into plus/minus calculation). Stats are applied differently depending on the league's scoring type.

  • Points - Points are awarded by multiplying the player's plus/minus for the game by the scoring modifier.
  • Rotisserie - The team with the highest plus/minus earns the most points and the lowest plus/minus rating earns 1 point for finishing last.
  • Head-to-Head - The team with the higher plus/minus for the week wins the category match-up.

Wins, losses, or shutouts for goalies

Goalies earn stats in the categories listed in the "Goaltenders" section of your roster. Real-life goals, assists, penalty minutes, etc., earned by goalies won't be added to your Fantasy stats or standings

  • Wins - Credited to the goalie who was on the ice when the winning goal was scored.
  • Losses - Credited to the goalie who allowed the winning goal to score if it occurs during regulation play. Overtime or shootout losses (OTL) aren't recorded in Fantasy Hockey.
  • Shutouts - Goalies must play the entire game to earn a shutout. It’s not possible for 2 or more goalies to combine for a shutout. If a scoreless game goes into a shootout, both goalies will be credited with a Shutout.
