Reset or change your Yahoo password

Your Yahoo password gives you access to every Yahoo service you use. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it to get back in to your Yahoo account. It's also a good idea to update your password regularly and to make sure it's unique from other passwords you use.

Reset a forgotten password

Use Sign-in Helper, Yahoo's password reset and account recovery tool, to get back in to your account.

  1. Go to the Sign-in Helper.
  2. Enter one of the account recovery items listed.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Follow the instructions given in the Sign-in Helper.

Change your password

From a desktop or mobile web browser:

  1. Sign in to the Yahoo Account security page.
  2. Click Change password.
  3. Enter a new password.
  4. Click Continue.

From most Yahoo mobile apps:

  1. Tap the Profile icon.
  2. If using the Yahoo Mail app, tap Manage Accounts.
  3. Tap Account info.
  4. Tap Security.
  5. Enter your security code.
  6. Tap Change password.
  7. Tap I would rather change my password.
  8. Enter the new password and its confirmation and tap Continue.

If these steps don't work in your app, change your password using your mobile browser.

  No option to change your password? - You might have Account Key on, so you'll need to disable it before setting a new password.
