An 'ecosystem' is forming around electric aviation: Archer CEO

Electric air taxi travel is getting closer to becoming a reality. Archer Aviation (ACHR) just cleared a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory hurdle that certifies the company's airline operations. The company's CEO, Adam Goldstein, joins Catalysts to discuss next steps for Archer.

Goldstein explains that the company's goal is to "start flying as soon as possible," though he says an exact date is difficult when working with regulators. The company will be focused on cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and international hubs abroad. He adds that Archer's strategy has been to partner with the "best companies" to build out its operations, noting that Stellantis (STLA) helped the company build its manufacturing plant.

Electric aviation will require infrastructure, which is where the company's partnerships in Abu Dhabi and with the Beta charging network come into play, Goldstein says.
