Today's charts: JPMorgan beats on earnings; RBC analyst speculates on Apple, Disney deal; Yext surges in trading debut

Yahoo Finance is tracking JPMorgan, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Apple and Yext in intraday trading on Thursday.

JPMorgan (JPM) – Shares are in focus after the bank reported better-than-expected earnings and revenue, driven by a boost in trading. JPMorgan posted earnings per share of $1.65 on adjusted revenue of $25.59 billion. The bank’s trading revenue jumped 13% to $5.82 billion, that’s up from $5.17 billion one year ago.

Citigroup (C) – The company reported earnings that topped Wall Street estimates with first-quarter profit rising 17%. Citigroup posted earnings per share of $1.35 on revenue of $18.12 billion. Citi CEO Michael Corbat said in the press release, “The momentum we saw across many of our businesses towards the end of last year carried into the first quarter, resulting in significantly better overall performance than a year ago.”

Wells Fargo (WFC) – Shares are falling after the bank missed on revenue in the first quarter. Wells Fargo reported earnings per share of $1.00 on revenue of $22 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings per share of 97 cents and revenue of $22.32 billion. Chief Executive Officer Tim Sloan said, “Wells Fargo continued to make meaningful progress in the first quarter in rebuilding trust with customers and other important stakeholders, while producing solid financial results. We have taken significant actions throughout the company to date and we are committed to building a better bank as we move Wells Fargo forward.”

Apple (AAPL) – The tech giant is in focus after a research note from RBC Capital Markets commented on a potential merger with Disney. The firm wrote “We see a confluence of events that make an acquisition of DIS a “greater than 0%” probability event (while odds are low).” RBC also noted that Apple would provide powerful new channels for Disney’s content.

Yext (YEXT) – Shares opened for trading at $14 per share, more than 27% above its offering price of $11. The stock made its public debut on the New York Stock exchange under the symbol YEXT.
