Title Resources Group (TRG), a title insurance underwriter, has acquired Doma Holdings, a US-based provider of title insurance and settlement services in various states through four operating companies, for an undisclosed sum.

With the acquisition, Doma's underwriting division, Doma Title Insurance (DTI), becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of TRG.

DTI president Emilio Fernandez said: "The DTI team and I are excited to continue our journey under Scott's leadership. Our dual commitment to these shared values will allow us to service our customers more effectively than ever.”

The acquisition sees Doma's technology arm, now named Doma Technology LLC (Doma TechCo), operating independently with separate capitalisation.

TRG and Doma TechCo will function as sister companies under the largest shareholder, Centerbridge Partners, with a subsidiary of Centerbridge holding the majority stake in Doma TechCo.

Hudson Structured Capital Management also joined the deal, securing a significant ownership in Doma TechCo.

Furthermore, the investment branch of Lennar, LENX, has invested in TRG, becoming a minority owner.

Lennar's move to invest in TRG aligns it with other notable owners such as Anywhere Real Estate, HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, Opendoor Technologies and Centerbridge Partners.

TRG CEO Scott McCall said: “Combining DTI with TRG's existing underwriter, we have become the fifth-largest independent underwriter in the United States. We look forward to leveraging our increased scale to create more value for our agents and partners in the marketplace.
