2025 Ford Explorer details revealed: New interior, 14 features at no extra cost
The latest refresh of the Ford Explorer, the bestselling SUV in the U.S. since its introduction nearly 35 years ago, will have a redesigned interior and a dozen special features at no extra cost.
Standard content for the 2025 Explorer SUV now includes:
13.2-inch LCD touch screen integrated with Google maps
8 USB ports to charge electronic devices, including two for third-row passengers
A wireless phone-charging pad in the front seat, with storage for a second phone
Power trunk liftgate
LED headlamps
A Class III Trailer Tow Package for up to 5,000 pounds of towing
10-way power, heated driver’s seat
4-way power, heated front passenger seat
Apple CarPlay and Android wireless compatibility
Alexa built-in for voice assistance to set the in-vehicle temperature, find and set a destination and request a radio broadcast or satellite station
A fabric-wrapped sound bar with a 14-speaker audio system
Ford Co-Pilot360 technology that includes BlueCruise, which allows for hands-free driving on more than 130,000 miles of highway across North America using cameras and sensors. Blue Cruise-assisted driving with hands-free lane change and in-lane repositioning will be available in the Ford Explorer for the first time.
The 2025 Ford Explorer, which is built at the Chicago Assembly Plant, starts at $41,220 including destination and delivery fees. The order bank opens Thursday. Delivery to dealers is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of this year.
In addition to the standard perks, Ford is offering a premium subscription to access 5G wireless technology that would provide customers the option to activate a Wi-Fi hotspot that allows Internet access for up to 10 mobile devices.
How many models
Each of the four models of the 2025 Explorer has its own unique grille and style:
Platinum has its own wing design, satin chrome and ebony grille.
ST has a honeycomb gloss black grille with black mesh insert and ST badging.
ST-Line has as honeycomb gloss black grille with black mesh insert.
Active has a saw-tooth design, black mesh grille with chrome bars.
Style packages offer a range of accessories
Platinum Lux Leather Package: Leather seats with accent stitching, piping and quilting, plus a 14-speaker audio system
Platinum Ultimate Package: Leather seats plus a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and 21-inch Dark Alloy polished aluminum wheels
ST-Line Premium Package: Power-folding side mirrors, heated second-row seats, Power-folding third-row seats, ambient lighting and rain-sensing wipers.
ST-Line Street Package: 21-inch Magnetite-painted aluminum wheels, performance brakes and red-painted performance front and rear brake calipers.
Active Comfort Package: Basic with no added bells or whistles.
The vehicles come in seven wheel options, ranging from 18- to 21-inches.
Other features
This Explorer digital experience allows for the playing of video games, watching movies and surfing the web.
In addition to entertainment, Ford is also offering ambient lighting — standard on Platinum and ST — in Ice Blue, orange, soft blue, red, green, blue and purple.
