Nucor expects earnings to decline in the current quarter due primarily to lower average selling prices of steel, the company said Tuesday. For the third quarter, the steel manufacturer projects adjusted earnings between $1.30 and $1.40 a share, down from $2.68 a share in the 2024 second quarter and a steeper drop from $4.57 a share posted in the year-ago period. Lower average selling prices were the biggest drag on earnings for its steel mills segment; they were also a main driver of decreased earnings for the steel products segment, along with lower volumes, the company said.
