Zoë Kravitz brings Catwoman to the red carpet in feline-inspired look: 'To die for'

Zoë Kravitz is making her mark as the latest star to take on the role of Catwoman.

On Tuesday, the 33-year-old attended the world premiere of her latest film "The Batman" wearing a feline-inspired look from Oscar de la Renta. Kravitz wowed spectators in a strapless black velvet column gown that featured a silhouette of two cats at the bust and lace-up front detail.

Kravitz hit the red carpet along with actor Robert Pattinson, who takes on the leading role of Bruce Wayne in the latest film adaptation of the DC Comics classic.

The actress's bold look sent social media into a frenzy, with fans singing Kravitz's praises for dressing for the occasion.

"The cat details on her dress are to die for," one person tweeted.

"Zoë Kravitz's cat dress is everything," another agreed.

"A real femme fatale," someone wrote.

Kravitz joins a long list of A-list stars like Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway who have portrayed Selina Kyle, a highly skilled jewel thief.

The actress's take on the character has prompted discussion as to whether or not the portrayal of Catwoman in "The Batman" was intended to showcase the character's bisexuality.

In a new interview with Pedestrian, Kravitz was asked whether her character's relationship with her missing roommate Anika, who she refers to as "baby," was meant to hint at intimacy between the two women.

“That’s definitely the way I interpreted that, that they had some kind of romantic relationship," Kravtiz said.

The film's director, Matt Reeves, gave a more detailed answer, acknowledging that the film was "very true" to the comic book character of Selina Kyle.

"She’s not yet Catwoman, but all the elements of how she’s going to become Catwoman are there," Reeves told Pedestrian. "And in terms of her relationship with Anika, I spoke to Zoë very early on and one of the things she said which I loved was that: ‘She’s drawn to strays because she was a stray and so she really wants to care for these strays because she doesn’t want to be that way anymore, and Anika is like a stray and she loves her.'”
