Fans from around the world watched in solidarity as the monarch passed away in September at the age of 96, ending her extraordinary run as the Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms.

Despite her heartbreaking death in the latter part of the year, she was on many Canadians' minds from January 2022 until now, with many fans vying to learn more about her Platinum Jubilee, her relatives, and more.

From information about her funeral to questions about her pets, here are the top 10 things people searched for related to the Queen in 2022.

10. Queen Elizabeth death

Queen Elizabeth II died on Sept. 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

According to her official death certificate, the longest reigning monarch in British history passed away from "old age." The local time of death was 3:10 p.m.

Her daughter, Princess Anne, was listed as the informant of her death. Anne previously said in a statement, "I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother's life."

9. Lilibet and Queen

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor (born June 4, 2021) is the daughter of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Harry and Meghan named their daughter Lilibet after the royal family's longstanding nickname for Queen Elizabeth II, the toddler's great-grandmother.

As a child, the Queen called herself Lilibet because she had difficulty pronouncing her full name.

Throughout her life, the Queen Mother was regarded as the matriarch of the Royal Family and was noted for her humour and easygoing nature.

When the Queen passed away, many Canadians wondered when her funeral would be and what would be included in the service.

The event took place on Sept. 19, 2022 at London's Westminster Abbey following 10 days of national mourning.

The late monarch's closest family members, as well as more than 500 foreign dignitaries and world leaders attended the service. As a whole, 2,000 people bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

On the street, hundreds of thousands of mourners from around the world came to pay their respects while millions tuned in online or on television to watch her make her final journey from Scotland back to Windsor Castle, where she was buried alongside her late husband, Prince Phillip.

4. Queen's Jubilee 2022

On Feb. 6, 2022 Queen Elizabeth II became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, initiatives and events took place both in the United Kingdom and around the world, culminating in a four-day holiday weekend in the U.K. from June 2 to 5.

At the end of Jubilee weekend, the Queen's balcony appearance was her last ever at Buckingham Palace, and was among her last public showings ever.

Additionally, to mark the Jubilee commemorative coins and stamps were issued by several Commonwealth nations and for the first time, beacons were lit in every Commonwealth capital. Globally, trees were also planted in the Queen's name.

The Honourable Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon was born on Aug. 4, 1900, and was the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne.

On April 26, 1923 she married HRH Prince Albert, Duke of York (son of George V and Queen Mary), in Westminster Abbey. He later succeeded as King George VI.
