For most of her life, the Queen owned at least one corgi — a breed of dog as synonymous with Her Majesty as Buckingham Palace.

As a whole, the Queen's choice of names for her dogs have ranged from food and drink (i.e. Honey, Sugar, Whiskey and Sherry) to nature-themed names including Jay, Linnet and Foxy.
When the Queen passed away, Duke and Duchess of York — Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — inherited two of her remaining corgis, Muick and Sandy.
7. Queen Elizabeth I
While Queen Elizabeth II made headlines in 2022 for her Jubilee, death and more, many Canadians wondered who the first Queen Elizabeth was.
Elizabeth I was Queen of England and Ireland from Nov. 17, 1558 until her death in 1603. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, his second wife, who was executed when Elizabeth was two years old.
She reigned during a time — often called the Elizabethan Age — when England asserted itself as a major European power in politics, commerce, and the arts.
6. Queen Mother
March 30, 2022 marked 20 years since one of the most important figures in the Queen's life — her mother — passed away at the age of 101.
Her death came just under two months after Princess Margaret, Her Majesty's younger sister, died on Feb. 9, 2002 at age 71. These losses came before that year's Golden Jubilee, marking 2002 as both a devastating yet celebratory one for the Queen.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, initiatives and events took place both in the United Kingdom and around the world, culminating in a four-day holiday weekend in the U.K. from June 2 to 5.
At the end of Jubilee weekend, the Queen's balcony appearance was her last ever at Buckingham Palace, and was among her last public showings ever.
Additionally, to mark the Jubilee commemorative coins and stamps were issued by several Commonwealth nations and for the first time, beacons were lit in every Commonwealth capital. Globally, trees were also planted in the Queen's name.
