Winnie Harlow gets 'connected' to her roots while visiting Jamaica: 'Beautiful family'
Winnie Harlow is appreciating and connecting with her culture.
The 28-year-old model took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a series of photos she took while visiting her family on a trip to Jamaica. In the carousel of shots, the model and vitiligo public spokesperson posed with her father outside of his mechanic garage, along with her grandmother inside her home. Harlow also included various shots of old photographs of her family members.
In the photos, Harlow wore a white scooped neck tank top cut into a crop top, black basketball shorts and a black hoodie tied around her waist. She also wore off-white running sneakers and carried a red tote-style handbag.
"Always connected to my roots," the Mississauga, Ont.-native wrote in her caption, while adding a Jamaican flag and yellow heart emoji. "Got to take my baby and my friends to see my daddy’s house & mechanic garage (Young Services for all your Jamaican car troubles, car racing and car towing!!!), and my granny's house in Jamaica, where my Cay Skin inspo began."
Harlow continued to explain how her father would spread sunscreen on her body and her grandmother would rub her skin with freshly-cut aloe vera while growing up, both of which helped the model originate the idea of a daily skin care line focused on sun protection.
In her post, Harlow also included a snap with her boyfriend, 27-year-old NBA star Kyle Kuzma, kissing her cheek as the couple leaned against a fence at her grandmother's home.
"I feel like my granny should whoop me for kissing a boy in her front yard haha, but then I remember I'm grown now and this is one of the places that raised me," Harlow continued in her caption. "Memories don't live like people do..."
Fans filled Harlow's post with comments appreciating the model for taking the time to connect with her heritage.
