This Is Why Gwen Stefani's 'Jellyfish Haircut' Has Gone Viral
It's been almost two years since the 'jellyfish' haircut burst onto the beauty scene and just short of 11 months since it was predicted to soar. Today, however, is the day that proves its virality with the one and only Gwen Stefani debuting her interpretation of the avant-garde hairstyle.
Over the weekend, the 'Hollaback Girl' singer took to social media to reveal her limited-edition sky blue 'Bouquet' vinyl. Now, as excited as fans in the comments are for its release, what had us re-watching the Instagram video post was her triple-layered haircut.

As Gwen's new 'do perfectly demonstrates, the jellyfish cut resembles the look of the sea creature, featuring two (or more) bluntly cut layers. In this case, we're seeing a short and blunt top-layer bob with longer hair underneath.
So, if you can't decide between chopping your hair to chin length or keeping longer layers, why not opt for the jellyfish cut and rock the best of both worlds?!
Now, as I'm sure many of us already know, Pinterest has a pretty stellar track record for using its data to predict trends and that has been proven with a statement Tom Spratt, Head of Beauty at Pinterest UK, made in January earlier this year.
'Millions of people turn to Pinterest each month to find inspiration and shop their next beauty and hair looks, so we know what they’re planning to do and buy next - it’s a bit like having a crystal ball,' Tom said 11 months ago. 'In 2024, it’s all about the jellyfish. So, if you're looking for an edgy, out-of-the-box style that's sure to grab people's attention, this hairstyle might just be for you.'
Foreseeing a rise in the jellyfish haircut has been demonstrated by celebrities including Shay Mitchell, Selena Gomez and now, Gwen, meaning you best believe we'll be consulting Tom and Pinterest on 2025's biggest beauty trends.
