While I’m still getting adjusted to my new lockdown life, staying at home has given me two things to be thankful for: time needed to practice and refine my makeup skills, and endless entertainment on TikTok.
No, I still haven’t signed up for it, but getting lost in a sea of viral dance videos and challenges sometimes goes hand in hand with my job as a shopping editor — especially with tons of beauty clips going viral.
Recently, I came across a clip by makeup enthusiast @MikayLanogueira. In the clip, she reveals her hack to effectively conceal redness and acne breakouts — which ultimately resulting in me adding more to virtual Sephora shopping basket.
In her own words, Lanogueira says that by using her method, she's been able to "trick people" into thinking she "has no acne at all" with game-changing, essential products.
So how does she do it?
Priming her face, she uses Exuviance's Radiance Serum.
"This stuff is sticky as hell and that's what you need for your foundation to stick,” she explains.
For additional hold, she then follows with Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip Primer, a sticky, hydrating, makeup-gripping formula made with hemp-derived cannabis seed extract and blue agave extract for all-day hydration and hold.
As for concealer, she covers up her blemishes with the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer and a small flat concealer brush.
"Apply the serum, apply the primer. Take your concealer brush with the concealer and cover up all your acne. Now, this is the most important part, once you have the concealer on don't touch it, don't blend it, leave it alone for two minutes and then apply your foundation,” she explains.

With triggers such as genetics, hormones, stress, the natural slow-down of cell renewal and loss of elasticity, acne continues to be the most frequently diagnosed condition by dermatologists, affecting 35 per cent of adults. And although there is absolutely nothing wrong with Mikayla's skin, her transformation is jawdropping and with 2.2 million likes so far, it seems TikTok user feel the same.
