Trader Joe's Brought Back the Bakery Item Fans Call Their 'Kryptonite'

"I ate 2 of them in the car before even leaving the parking lot."

One of life's simple joys is going to Trader Joe's and seeing all the new and returning seasonal goodies. There are plenty of new goodies on shelves, but I can't help but beeline to one place in the store: the bakery section.

Any Trader Joe's fan worth their salt knows that autumn means the return of beloved baked goods like Apple & Pumpkin Hand Pies and the "12 out of 10" Pumpkin Caramel Kringle. And now, TJ's has made fall that much sweeter by bringing back my favorite dessert from last year's lineup: Teeny Tiny Apple Pies.

Trader Joe’s Brings Back Teeny Tiny Apple Pies

This returning fan-favorite product features four miniature pies stuffed with sweet-tart apples cooked in a buttery, flaky crust and topped with a brown sugar crumble. Their small (teeny tiny) size means that they’re the perfect individual serving—no need to bake a whole pie when a sudden craving strikes.

Trader Joe’s says that you can serve the pies at room temperature, or heat in the microwave or air fryer for a warm, gooey, just-baked vibe. And while you can absolutely serve them on their own, I’m a firm believer that apple pie—whether sliced or served as an individual mini—is better with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. And I’m not alone. Trader Joe’s-focused Instagram accounts @traderjoesnew and @traderjoesobsessed both recommend trying the pies with ice cream.

I'm not the only one excited about their return to stores. On Reddit, one user shared their favorite way to serve the pies: warmed with vanilla ice cream and crushed speculoos cookies. Another commenter replied, writing "Teeny Tiny Apple Pies are my kryptonite."

On another Reddit thread where a user claimed they were "the worst thing I’ve ever bought from TJ’s," commenter after commenter came to the pies' defense, writing "100% disagree they were amazing," and "Aw, they’re one of my favorites! I think they’re the perfect fall treat, warmed up with vanilla ice cream." Another commenter divulged, "Omg I am actually obsessed with these. I ate 2 of them in the car before even leaving the parking lot."

These mini pies are in the bakery section (not the frozen aisle, as different iterations of mini pies have been before) and cost $4.99 for a package containing four mini pies. Given that once a Trader Joe’s product is gone, it’s gone, we’d recommend checking out your location’s bakery section sooner rather than later. Though we can hope that the return of the Teeny Tiny Apple Pie means that there’s a possibility of similarly small pies in the future—my fingers are crossed for an impossibly cute mini pecan pie.
