NHLer T.J. Oshie and wife Lauren rock 'iconic' 'Parent Trap' Halloween costumes
"The day we get married is the day I ship those brats off to Switzerland... Get the picture?"
T.J. and Lauren Oshie are embracing the '90s this Halloween.
The Washington Capitals right winger and his wife delighted fans on Tuesday after Lauren shared a carousel of photos, showing off their '90s-inspired Halloween couple's costume. The couple paid homage to the 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap" by dressing up as characters Nick Parker and Meredith Blake, played by Dennis Quaid and Elaine Hendrix.
In the snaps, the NHLer channelled Nick Parker in a pair of blue jeans paired with a matching denim button-down shirt under a brown utility coat. He accessorized with a cowboy hat and a backpack.
Lauren donned black leggings with a black and white crop top under a black, fitted athletic jacket. She styled her hair in an up-do with curled tendrils, and wore bright pink lipstick with matching nail polish. In one of the photos, Lauren posed with a fake lizard on top of her head, referencing an iconic scene from the movie.
She captioned the post with a playful nod to a memorable line from the film, writing, "The day we get married is the day I ship those brats off to Switzerland... Get the picture?"
In the comments, fans praised the pair on their Halloween looks and applauded their attention to detail and sense of humour.
"Nailed this! One of my favourite movies," an Instagram user wrote.
Another added: "Bravo! This really made me [smile]."
"You make such a good Meredith," one person commented.
"This is iconic," a fan shared.
"You killed this!" another commenter raved.
The Oshies, who share three daughters and one son, tied the knot back in 2015 in a large wedding ceremony in Minnesota. Oshie was walked down the aisle by his the-16-month-old daughter Lyla.
Speaking with St. Louis Bride & Groom Magazine at the time, Lauren gushed over their engagement and recalled the moment Oshie popped the question.
"We got engaged on February 4th (our third anniversary). I wasn’t expecting it," she shared, detailing, "We woke up early one morning before T.J. had to be at the rink. We were going to get a quick breakfast at our favourite spot right around the corner from us."
"As I was walking out of the door, I could tell T.J. wasn’t following me anymore," she said. "I peaked around the corner to see what he was doing and he was down on one knee. Everything after that is a bit of a blur. I was speechless and of course, said yes!"
