This breastfeeding mom was verbally assaulted for nursing in public
While it seems like everyday we hear stories about moms being shamed for breastfeeding in public, this altercation took it to an almost violent level.
Jessie Maher was nursing her baby in a Target when a man saw her and began shouting at her.
“Can’t you do that somewhere else? That’s f–king disgusting. You are nasty,” he said, according to Maher’s Facebook post.
“I am feeding my baby, and I have the right to do it here. Walk the f–k away,” Maher responded.
When the man refused to leave her alone, the quick-thinking mom took out her phone and began recording the incident in the hopes that someone would be able to identify him.

As the video starts rolling, we hear other customers telling the man to leave her alone. “Because I’m feeding my baby, this man is going crazy and I am shaking,” Maher says in the video.
“You’re fine. He has no right to be doing what he’s doing, you have a baby in your hands,” another woman says. “Are you OK?”
“I’m not covering myself up because of him,” Maher responds. At this point, the new mom is in tears. “Look at all these wonderful people coming to my defense.”

As Target employees escort him out, Maher thanks the other customers for rallying around her.
“We have five kids. Don’t ever feel ashamed of feeding your baby,” another woman says as the video ends.
