I'm obsessed with Supergoop's $49 glowy sunscreen — here's why
This sunscreen is a staple in my skincare routine all summer long.
Yahoo Canada's Shopping Editor put Supergoop!'s bestselling sunscreen to the test to see if it's worth the hype.
Here's what you need to know at a glance:
💵 Price: $49 CAD/$38 USD
⏰ Used for: Two years
⭐ Our rating: 5/5
🛍️ Reasons to buy: This sunscreen offers lightweight, unscented protection against the sun, with the added bonus oh glowing, lit-from within skin.
✋ Reasons to avoid: If you prefer the look of matte skin, since this sunscreen has a definite shimmer that not everyone will love.
There aren't many beauty products that I will actually repurchase, but high at the top of the list would be the Supergoop!'s Glowscreen SPF. Since first testing it out in 2021, it's become a staple in my skincare routine — but especially during summer months.
I'm not alone in my love for the sunscreen either, as TikTok views for the hashtag #glowscreen have racked up nearly 80 million views.

The details
Made with a blend of hyaluronic acid for hydration, sea lavender for long-lasting moisture, and cocoa peptides to protect against blue light protection and free radical damage, Glowscreen isn’t your average SPF. While it still provides an SPF 40 that's also vegan, cruelty-free, reef-safe and gluten-free, its skin-boosting ingredients help it perform double duty as both sun protection and skincare in one.
Worn on its own or as a makeup-gripping primer, it’s designed to leave skin with a dewy, glowy finish and major hydration all day.
Why I love it
At first glance, the bottle of Glowscreen looks much like any SPF you’d find at your local pharmacy. Upon testing it out on the back of my hand though, it was obvious that it lives up to its claims of adding “a pearlescent finish to leave skin luminous with an instant glow.”
Without adding any excess shine, glitter or fragrance, skin looks like it’s lit from within — or as I shared on social media, as if it were a balmy July afternoon even in the dead of winter.
I love using Glowscreen daily to add a bit of brightening and radiance, and since I don’t usually wear foundation I find that it’s the perfect finishing touch to my morning skincare routine. Worn over my regular serum and moisturizer, I haven’t had any issues with it pilling or taking a long time to absorb into my skin —perfect for ensuring that I’ll actually apply SPF daily.
What others are saying
Sephora shoppers can be a discerning bunch, but Glowscreen has lived up to the hype, earning a 4.1-star average rating from more than 2,000 customer reviews.
“I just recently started wearing sunscreen daily, and after using this I’m so mad I never started sooner,” revealed one Sephora reviewer. “It doesn’t leave a white cast, I can’t feel it on my face at all, and it really does leave a great glow. Not shimmery or oily looking.”
“I love how light this is on my skin and how well it absorbs. I can wear it alone with powder or under foundation and it looks great both ways,” added another. “It provides a nice, natural tint, and I often receive compliments that my skin is ‘glowing’ when I use it. A little goes a long way, which makes it a good value for the cost.”
As the name suggests, Glowscreen leaves skin with a radiant finish that may not be everyone’s preference. Some reviewers also found the $49 CAD/$38 CAD price tag to be too high, so you may want to test it out in the mini version before investing in the full-size product.
"I got the mini size before splurging on the bigger one and I'm glad that I did. The glow is nice [but] sadly not worth the price," shared one reviewer.
Final thoughts
While I love the look of this Supergoop! sunscreen, it's definitely not for everyone. If you’re looking for a daily SPF that offers similar skin-boosting effects but with a more matte effect, then be sure to check out the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen instead.
