Some are crying ‘blackface’ over this line of super dark spray tan
(Facebook/Emmaatan_)
Spray tan has been on the market for years. A safer alternative to tanning beds, these sun-kissed lotions and sprays can help give that healthy glow without the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays. But a Swedish line of spray tan has some wondering, how dark is too dark?
Can we talk about this disgusting, racist bullshit account and product?! emmaatan_ https://t.co/pEyZhQweJ7

Emmaatan was created by Emma Patissier, a spray-tan specialist in Sweden, and features a range of shades with names like, dark ash, caramel, chocolate and absolute – an extreme darkening colour.
While most people aren’t offended by spray tan, in and of itself, in this case the problem arose after people noticed how dramatically the product transformed the skin tone – in some cases, to the extent where it implied “blackface."

To date, Emmaatan hasn’t commented on the outcry over their tanning products but they did recently update their Instagram account settings to private.
