Shania Twain opens up about 'having more fun with fashion' in stunning new photo shoot
Shania Twain is looking ahead to the future.
In a new interview with Bustle, the 57-year-old artist looked stunning a variety of high-fashion outfits as she posed at The Standard hotel in New York.
For the one of the looks during the photo shoot, the "You're Still the One" singer wore a long white buttoned dress with puffy lantern sleeves, a matching cowboy hat, fishnet leggings and leopard print thigh-high boots.
In an all-black look, Twain played with a flowing skirt featuring black and white horizontal stripes. She also wore a black bodysuit, sheer black mock neck top and black heels, topping the outfit off with a matching cowboy hat and dangling Swarovski earrings.
"I'm having more fun with fashion than I did when I was younger," the "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" singer told Bustle. "Maybe with age I’m just less apologetic for how I look and I let fashion do its job."
The Windsor-Ont. native wore an orange and black long-sleeve velvet turtleneck gown in another look, pairing the dress with a pair of gold Tiffany & Co. cuffs, cat eye sunglasses and a sparkling black cowboy hat.
Twain also looked effortlessly stunning in another photo while laying down on an off-white couch. In that shot, she wore a puffy black Comme des Garcons jacket, along with a black crown, bedazzled fishnet tights and ankle-strap heels.
One recognizable look Twain wore during the photo shoot included a leopard print body suit that was paired with matching long gloves, a matching vintage hat and fishnet tights. It's a look that's reminiscent of the iconic leopard print hooded cat suit she wore during the "That Don't Impress Me Much" music video.
During her interview with Bustle, Twain opened up about the early days of her career and how she remained a forceful presence within an intense industry.
"I was never a pushover, ever in my life," she explained. "I took control wherever I could ... Maybe control’s not the right word. I took charge. That’s way better. I took charge.
"From a very young age, I had to let a lot roll off my back. Fear, my insecurities. These are things that are not allowed to get in the way of my dreams and my forward motion."
That tenacity has, clearly, proved successful for Twain. Over the years, several artists have paid their respects to the country pop legend, with many admitting she was an influence over their craft.
In April, Harry Styles brought out Twain during his set at Coachella. He told the crowd at the festival that Twain taught him to "how to sing" as a child, and thanks her for giving him special memories with his mother.
"I admire her confidence in her path, because she really just loved bringing people together," country singer Maren Morris told Bustle via email. "She owned her femininity, but she didn’t hide behind it either. She had the songs to back it up."
