'Three legends': Shania Twain hilariously pokes fun at Grammys photo from 1999
Shania Twain celebrated the 2022 Grammys with an epic throwback photo that featured some of the most successful women in music.
On Sunday, the 56-year-old Canadian country star took to Instagram to share a candid photo of herself with Céline Dion and Sheryl Crow from the 1999 Grammy Awards.
The five-time Grammy winner poked fun at the photo, which featured all three women in animated conversation.
"Why does this feel like the Spider-Man meme?" Twain joked.
The photo of the women, who have collectively earned 19 Grammys to date, was an instant hit with fans.
"Look at all these legends," one fan wrote, while another echoed, "Three legends just being legends."
"Still dreaming about a Céline and Shania duet," another wrote.
"Wow! What a trio!" a follower said. "I would loved to have heard that conversation! Three great and inspiring boss women!"
"What a power packed photo," someone else wrote.
Back in 1999, Twain hit the red carpet dressed in a crystal covered long-sleeve white gown by Mac Bouwer, the designer behind some of her most well-known looks including her corseted look from the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" music video.
Twain took home two awards that evening, including Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song for her single, "You're Still The One."
Little did Twain know that she would soon begin a lengthy battle with Lyme disease, which caused the star to lose her voice completely and stop making music for 15 years.
"I never thought I'd sing again," Twain said in a 2018 interview with The Guardian. "Lyme disease can be so much more devastating. It can go to your brain.”
During that time period, Twain divorced her husband of 14 years, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange.
In 2017, Twain told CBC News that the stress of her divorce, combined with Lyme disease likely contributed to her losing her voice.
"The divorce phase really was the straw that broke the camel's back," she explained. "It was like all the layers throughout my life of going through those challenges were just too heavy all of a sudden. And that dam broke, but it also opened up a flood of creativity."
