Serena Williams throws daughter Olympia a surprise 'Moana' party: 'Parenting so well'
The pro athlete says she'll celebrate her daughter any day of the year.
Serena Williams doesn't need a reason to celebrate her daughter.
The 41-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a carousel of photos taken during a party that she and her husband, 39-year-old Alexis Ohanian, threw for their five-year-old daughter, Olympia.
Thrown under the theme of the 2016 Disney animated film, "Moana," the family posed outdoors under a multi-coloured balloon arch with an actress dressed as the movie's titular character.
"Sometimes we surprise [Olympia] with parties. We don't need a reason or a special occasion we make everyday as special and memorable as we can," Williams explained in the caption to her post. "Also her mama fast..."
Several people praised Williams and Ohanian for their superb parenting skills in the comments of the post, with many chiming in with their own happy memories.
"Still can't believe Moana was willing to come all the way from Motunui," Ohanian commented.
"I love that concept! You guys are parenting so, so well," one fan added.
"This is what parenting is all about. I still remember my mom sewing dresses for my Barbies and making appetizers for our fashion show parties. Those were real parties. I'm now 47-years-old and I remember as [if] it was today," another replied.
"So beautiful. My parents used to do this, too. I would come home from school and find gifts on my bed. Or I would get a party just because. I think this taught me to make life special and to be a generous giver. Now as an adult, I like to surprise my friends and family with gifts and plan parties, just because. I'm sure Olympia had a blast!" one person wrote.
"Lovely family photos! Enjoy these precious moments because time flies!" someone shared.
Since announcing her retirement earlier this year, Williams hasn't slowed down. On Wednesday, the tennis legend took to Twitter to share a tweet about her well-being.
"I'm currently allowing myself to be tired. Allowing myself to relax. Allowing myself to just be," Williams penned. "It's harder that I ever imagined. I've never allowed myself to do any of that before."
