Canadian influencer Roxy Earle says she's in the ICU after giving birth: 'Not everyone is this lucky'
The "Real Housewives of Toronto" star is recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital after giving birth to her daughter, Alaia.
Roxy Earle is getting candid about the reality of childbirth.
On Tuesday, the 40-year-old Canadian television personality took to Instagram to update her fans following the birth of her daughter, Alaia, whom she shares with her husband, Arnold Mahesan.
In her candid post, which included a black-and-white photo of herself lying in bed at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital, the influencer opened up about how giving birth isn't glamorous for all mothers.
"I ask for your prayers tonight as I believe deeply in the power of positive collective thought. Baby Alaia is home thriving but I am not," Earle began in her caption to the post. "I always vowed to share my life with authenticity and want women to know that child birthing isn’t all cute outfits and perfect family photos."
The Toronto-based entrepreneur, who gave birth on Aug. 30, continued to share that she's recovering in a high-risk postnatal room, and that she's grateful for all the care she has received.
"Not everyone is this lucky, so the gratitude is flowing through me," she wrote. "But till I'm home, I need your good healing vibes."
Fellow influencers and fans sent their love and support to Earle in the comments section of her post.
"Healing, healing vibes coming your way en masse, honey. You'll be reunited with your babes soon," commented "Cityline" host Tracy Moore, to which Earle replied saying, "I believe that!"
"Love you so much and praying hard!" shared Canadian influencer Sarah Nicole Landry.
"Praying for you. And for the doctors and nurses," added activist Shaun King.
"Prayers for a complete recovery!" a fan chimed in.
"Sending you positive healing vibes. Childbirth is not always what you see on TV. Sooo many complications can arise, especially post-C-section. Now is the time to take care of you. You seem to have such a good support system, so lean on them. It truly takes a village sometimes," someone penned.
Earle also posted a selfie on her Instagram Stories, thanking fans for their comments and support amid the scary ordeal.
"Your messages are an amazing boost and positive for me to read and a wonderful distraction," she wrote as on-screen text in that photo. "Arnold and my mom have made my ICU room cozier with blankets, and my mom's giving me essential oil foot massages. If I just imagine enough, I'm essentially at a spa. This is when all the training about controlling thoughts and the mind matter most. Our daily positivity is training for the bad days, not the easy ones."
The new mom posted an Instagram Reel of Alaia earlier this week, introducing the world to her newborn baby with sweet clips.
"After the most emotional and exhausting labour, she was born via emergency C-section. Arnold and I are feeling overwhelmed with love and are deeply grateful to be bringing home a healthy baby to complete our family," she penned in that post. "We're resting up and snuggling our little ones. Thank you for all the love."
