Princess Beatrice's new boyfriend 'shocks' ex-fiancée's family with new royal romance

Princess Beatrice may be head-over-heels for her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, but it seems as though not everyone is thrilled for the new couple.

According to the Daily Mail, the family of Mozzi’s ex-fiancé, Dara Huang, were “shocked” to learn that the 35-year-old real estate developer had taken up with the Queen’s eldest granddaughter.

Mozzi and Huang, a 37-year-old architect, were engaged for three years and share a two-year-old son, Christopher Woolf. The news of their split came as a complete surprise to Huang’s mother, Lily, who was still under the impression that the pair were living together in London.

“I think Dara was hiding it from me,” Lily told the Daily Mail. “‘She didn’t want me to be sad. I am shocked.”

Lily said that her daughter often travels for work, but would leave her son with Mozzi and their nanny. Although busy, Huang “comes back early from her work and goes to see Wolfie so she can give him a bath before he goes to bed at seven or eight o’clock. It is a terrible situation.”

Lily says she found out about the breakup from her eldest daughter, Erin, and is having difficulty adjusting to the news. Huang has had to leave their shared London home and has been staying on a friend’s sofa while looking for a new place to live.

“‘I love Edo. I love his family,” Lily revealed. “Why has this happened? This has broken me to bits.”

Rumours have been circulating that Mozzi was still with Huang when he began dating Princess Beatrice in September. But according to a close family friend, the pair had called it quits six months ago, long before Mozzi began dating the 30-year-old royal.

A palace aide told the news outlet that any rumblings of Princess Beatrice taking up with Mozzi while he was involved with Huang are false.

“She would never allow herself to break into another couple’s happiness,” the source said. “Especially if there was a small child.”

Still, the news has rocked Lily and the rest of her family. “Before this, my daughter was happy,” she said. “But now she has cried with her sister…But I am a Christian. I told my daughter: ‘You have to bless people, you bless them, don’t be mad. Wish them good luck.'”
