Paulina Porizkova celebrates relationship milestone with intimate selfie: 'My one person'
"Today, I wake up in the arms of my love."
Paulina Porizkova is celebrating a major relationship milestone with her boyfriend Jeff Greenstein.
On Monday, the 58-year-old supermodel took to Instagram to mark the one year anniversary of connecting with the television writer via the "wilderness of dating apps." Porizkova shared a candid selfie of the pair snuggled in bed together with a lengthy caption about finding happiness after loss.
"2023 was, for me, the year where I reaped what I had sown," she began.
Porizkova told followers that upon revisiting old photos of herself on her Instagram feed taken on New Years Day, she saw "not only the images of the woman I was - but in between - the process of becoming the woman I am today."
"Almost five years ago, I had been handed a metaphorical grenade which detonated in my hands and imploded the house I had assembled," she continued, seemingly making reference to the death of her former husband Ric Ocasek. "The house that was me. My shell and my comfort and the repository of all I had learned."
In 2018, the model and the former "Cars" singer announced their separation after 28 years of marriage. Ocasek died suddenly of natural causes in 2019 at the age of 75; at the time of his death, the pair were legally separated, however Ocasek had written Porizkova out of his will. A two year legal battle with Ocasek's estate ended with Porizkova settling for an undisclosed sum of money.
According to Porizkova, following the "grenade" she has been "sifting through the wreckage" in a "painful and painstaking" process she called "exhausting and exhaustive."
"On January 1 last year, I woke up, alone, with the understanding that my new house was almost done," she wrote. "But I wouldn’t know how well I had rebuilt until I let someone else in."
Two days later Porizkova matched with Greenstein on Raya, a private membership-based dating app often frequented by celebrities.
"Today, I wake up in the arms of my love. Like every morning, we wake up entwined and we open our eyes to see the other smiling," she said of her relationship. "The hard times were not infinite, even if it felt like it. The good times are not infinite either. That is why I’m infinitely grateful for every year, every day, every moment."
The star's candid post earned praise from followers who credited Porizkova with giving them confidence to brave the dating scene.
“Your wonderful story gives my 55-year-old self, single for 11 years, hope," a follower wrote. "Among many other things, the insights you have shared with us highlight the importance of doing our won internal work first, rather than expecting the answers to come from someone or something else…”
"Beyond beautiful, this description," another said. "You were intentional and determined and you deserve this. Plus, you are giving hope to others who have had their foundations crumble. It is possible to rebuild a house better suited to you than the old one."
The "No Filter: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful" author told followers in the comments that she was on "a lot" of dating apps prior to meeting Greenstein, including Hinge, The League, Tinder and Bumble.
