With Halloween in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look forward to what’s next. But while you’re still shaking off that candy hangover, there’s a big event happening in the universe that’s going to impact your future.

It’s the new moon in Scorpio, and it’s happening on Friday, November 1, 2024, aka the day after Halloween. This new moon will make you laser focused on making the most out of the rest of your year, and it’s also going to light a serious fire under your booty, according to Donna Page, a certified astrologer in Atlanta.

Of course, there’s more to it than that. Here’s what else your zodiac sign can expect from the new moon in Scorpio.

Meet the expert: Donna Page, is a certified astrologer in Atlanta

What does the new moon in Scorpio mean for your sign?

Let’s back up a moment. The moon goes through different phases each month, and a new moon is when it’s pretty much invisible from Earth. In astrology, each new moon syncs up with a different astrological sign, creating a special feeling that influences what you think and how you act around this time.

This new moon is in the sign of Scorpio, and it’s sparking an intensity that you may not have felt in a while. “Scorpio is all about transformation,” Page says. “There’s a sense of ‘let’s get on with it’ and an awareness that the year is coming to an end.”

With that, you’ll be motivated to look back on those New Year’s resolutions you made way back when to see how well you’ve stuck with them. You’ll also think about what you want to remember 2024 for. Are you OK with how things have gone, or is it time to shake things up to finish strong?

By the way, don’t be surprised if you find yourself having some heated debates with your SO around this time.

“With this new moon, Mars and Pluto—which are rulers of Scorpio—are opposite each other,” Page says. “That creates a very intense vibration.”

That doesn’t mean you’re going to be fighting, though: You just may find that you have different ideas about certain things, and you won’t be afraid to express them. Also, that underlying tension can translate to a little extra spiciness in bed, so it's not a total loss.

Page says you can also expect to hear a lot of people pushing their agenda, which is interesting timing with the upcoming election. “It’s very reflective right before the election,” Page says.

She also says the new moon's energy may “uncover something secret” to help you learn more about others. “Use your intuitive guidance to follow what your gut is telling you,” she says.

Before you panic, know this: This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You may just discover that your friends are planning a surprise party for you or that your boss is ready to give you a promotion after talking with her boss. Just expect to learn some new stuff around this time that you weren’t aware of before.

The new moon will impact all zodiac signs, but Page says Scorpio and Taurus will feel it the most.

How will the new moon in Scorpio impact the rest of your year?

There’s actually a lot that can happen in the fall-out from this new moon.

For starters, if your year has been a little “meh” so far, you’ll be inspired to turn things around. Maybe you’ll use up your PTO to go somewhere exciting or revive that monthly dinner date you had going with your girls to make sure everyone stays in close contact.

Speaking your mind—and hearing what your S.O. really thinks, too—also stands to bring both of you closer. If nothing else, you can learn to be more accepting of each other’s opinions, which is definitely a win for personal growth.

Also, learning to hear the opinions of others and deciding for yourself what you do and don’t agree with is an important life skill, especially this time of year.

When is the next new moon?

The next new moon is on December 1, 2024 in the sign of Sagittarius. During this new moon, you’ll try to focus in on your goals in life—and how to achieve them. For now, expect a little more intensity in your day-to-day. If nothing else, it’ll motivate you to get things done.
