Minnie Driver, 52, turns heads in plunging V-neck gown at Oscars after party
Minnie Driver put a high fashion twist on the little black dress at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party on Sunday night in Los Angels, Calif.
The 52-year-old hit the party circuit a long-sleeve black beaded gown by Dundas that featured shoulder pads, and dramatic plunging neckline that she paired with red earrings and open-toe high heels.
While the British star was expecting a night of fun and festivities, she was stopped on her way into the star-studded party and asked to comment on the altercation between Oscar-winner Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock.
Driver offered a compassionate and diplomatic response, admitting she hoped there was reconciliation between Smith and Rock in the near future.
"It was deeply personal. We were all privy to...emotions running really high," Driver said carefully during an interview with Variety. "I really hope they will make up later. It's hard to watch somebody's pain like that."
Rock, who served as a presenter during the 94th Academy Awards, made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's appearance that resulted in the actor rushing on stage and hitting him across the face.
After returning to his seat, Smith shouted at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out your f—-ing mouth."
Not long after the altercation, Smith was awarded his first-ever Oscar, Best Actor for his role in "King Richard."
During his acceptance speech, he apologized to his peers and the academy for his outburst.
"In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world," he said. "I'm being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people."
Smith then compared himself to his character in "King Richard," calling himself a "fierce defender of his family."
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Rock has opted not to press charges against Smith for the assault.
