There is no evidence to support that wearing a face mask will protect you from COVID-19. You should still avoid touching your face, washing your hands frequently for 20 seconds using warm water and soap and practice social distancing.
Although face masks may not be the most glamorous article of clothing out there, they’re certainly practical — and have come a long way from the sterile-looking personal protective equipment that first began taking over our social media feeds early on in the coronavirus pandemic.
As more information becomes available about the spread and transmission of COVID-19, masks have become and increasingly important part of our daily lives.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, users are strongly advised to use non-surgical face masks with proper care, and to follow the advice of health care professionals:
Non-surgical/cloth face coverings should be washed routinely, depending on frequent use.
Sterilize and clean non-surgical/cloth face coverings through the washing machine.
Individuals should be careful not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth when removing their face covering and wash hands immediately after removing.
Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
All that said, there are more options available than ever to ensure that you stay safe when you’re not able to physically distance yourself around others, including one celebrity-approved brand of comfortable and affordable face coverings.
Stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, and Jennifer Lopez have all been spotted wearing MasQd in recent weeks, leading us to wonder why the brand has made such a splash among A-listers in Hollywood.
For one thing, all of MasQd’s facial coverings are produced in Los Angeles, which has helped support the local economy of garment workers in California. As an added bonus, the brand also donates 20 per cent of profits to medical workers on the front lines of fighting COVID-19, so you can feel good about where your dollars are going.
Available in over 100 different colours and patterns, the unisex masks also come in a range of fabrics, including everything from luxe silk to sporty mesh. Prices start at just $12 USD ($16 CAD) for adult sizes, and $10 USD ($13 CAD) for kids’ sizes, making them an affordable choice for the entire family.
