We can’t think of any restaurant that makes it easier to get free food than Krispy Kreme. Yes, technically, it’s a bakery and not a restaurant, but seriously, who gives away as much free deliciousness as the maker of the beloved Original Glazed doughnut and the deliverer of such fun collaborations? Just look at the adorable "Ghostbusters"-inspired lineup that's available through Halloween.

And remember the Fourth of July? If you wore red, white, and blue to a Krispy Kreme store, you got a free doughnut, no strings attached. Then there was Super Tuesday when everyone got two free doughnuts with no purchase necessary. After the bakery rolled out a new rewards program last spring, members got a free dozen doughnuts.

Earlier this year, Krispy Kreme announced a collaboration with McDonald’s that’s just starting to roll out now. No, there won’t be any Grimace or Hamburgler-shaped doughnuts. Instead, some McDonald’s restaurants will sell a selection of Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be delivered fresh to the fast food locations each day.

What is the bakery doing to celebrate? It’s giving away free doughnuts, of course.

How to Get a Free Krispy Kreme Doughnut

Beginning Oct. 15, the first McDonald’s locations to receive deliveries of Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed Doughnut, Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles, and Chocolate Iced Kreme, will be in Chicago. Until then, Krispy Kreme is celebrating by giving away one free Original Glazed doughnut at Krispy Kreme shops nationwide from Oct. 10 to Oct. 14.

To snag a free doughnut, simply show a McDonald’s paper or digital receipt dated between Oct. 10 and Oct.14 at a participating Krispy Kreme location anywhere in the U.S.

So, if you end up swinging by McDonald’s during those dates—maybe to try the new Chicken Big Mac—do yourself a favor and save the receipt, then head to Krispy Kreme for a free sweet treat.
