Kenzie Brenna shares 'truly needed' note on self-love and beauty standards
The Canadian influencer shared an Instagram reel of herself embracing the outdoors, away from the 'digital world.'
Kenzie Brenna is getting back to nature.
On Thursday, the Canadian influencer shared an Instagram reel of herself embracing the outdoors, paired with clips of targeted ads for weight loss, shapewear and pheromone perfume.
"This is my peace," the body-positivity advocate penned in the on-screen text.
She went on to explain that out in nature, there is "no need for a small waist. No need for makeup. No need to be as thin as possible. No need to have the perfect body. No need to attract a man."
In the caption, Brenna shared that nature always brings her back to "simplicity" because there's no call to "adhere to a certain beauty standard in order to be accepted or to exist."
"Whenever I come back from a stroll in the wild, I go and look in my digital world and my phone flashes to me: 'The only product you need for a snatched waist!,'" she added.
To combat the pressures of the digital world, Brenna tells herself to put her "phone down, listen to music, go back in nature, journal, have a rich conversation," or "basically do anything" to remember that she doesn't need to "look a certain way to be enough."
Fans met Brenna's inspirational post with supportive messages and praise for the important reminder.
"Thank you for making this and for posting this. As a young impressionable teen, it really helps to see people like you in the world," an Instagram user shared.
"I needed this today. Thank you," a fan commented.
One person added: "I love this! And completely agree!"
"Thank you for being a presence that is truly needed much more of on social media," another wrote.
The Vancouver-based content creator shared another powerful note, about what one should and shouldn't say if a friend says they "feel fat."
"If your friend ever looks in the mirror and says, 'I feel so fat,' please don't rush to respond with, 'no you aren't! You are beautiful,'" she wrote.
"Try: 'What other feeling words could you use right now? If you were fat, how would that make you feel? Is something else going on?'"
She urged her fans to ask their friends "what's going on right now in their life," and try to "relate to them."
"Ask them who they look up to and why? Maybe introduce them to other people to broaden their mind a bit. This, too, is medicine," Brenna recommended.
